COMPUTER EDUCATION

Southmead High School recognises the importance of computer proficiency in the context of the present day electronic commmunication and the related highway - internet technology. Our approach is to produce computer literate students with sound demonstrable skills in the use and application of computers beyond the confinement of the classroom.

SPORTS

Southmead High has strong inclination for sporting activities. We provide top class facilities for both indoor and outdoor games. the quality and adequacy of facilities attract a huge percentage of students of sports-related activities and give us an edge over other schools during competition.

CURRICULUM

We operate with emphasis on a broad-based academic curriculums consisting of all the subject areas specified by both Federal and Lagos State Ministry of Education. The programme is broken into upper universal basic (Junior Secondary School) and the Senior Secondary levels, each culminating in terminal examinations. CODE OF CONDUCT

In pursuit of a disciplined student and a decent community by extension, Southmead formulated code of conduct that spells out the responsibility, demands of both pupils, parents and guardians of student. The manual encompasses all the Dos and Don'ts that will assist students in demonstrating behaviour that leads to academic success, a sense of civic responsibility and feeling of self-fulifilment and self-actualization. Immediately upon admission, a copy of the code of conduct is furnish to both parent and student to read, digest and attest signatures to willingness to abide and comply with the set of rules and regulations as (may be) given from time to time.

COUNSELLING

This is a functional service which avails students the opportunity to discover early enough their areas of interest and specialisation. Through monitoring and counseling, the management is able to identify students who mighty be at risk. Those suspected to be in danger or have emotional disturbance are protected to enable them pursue their academic activities effectively. Apart from academic guidance, the school counseling officer keep abreast of students social and emotional behaviour and readily come to the assistance of those with noticeable changes in attitudes and behaviours which might disturb their optimum goal attainment.
